First, the basics - Lindsay Lohan, who is currently taking a nap at the Betty Ford Center, is on probation for doing a slew of crazy until August 2011. That seems reasonable to us, considering all the trouble she has caused. Now, it's important to understand that she would have been done with her probation sooner, except she kept doing drugs and ignoring her probation hearings, so more time got tacked on.
Which is precisely why her legal team is looking to ask Judge Fox to shorten her probation period. They're hoping that by ending it earlier, it will keep Lindsay from digging a deeper hole for herself. A source explains:
'The longer Lindsay stays on probation, the increased chances that she will get in trouble because of problems staying compliant with the terms of her probation. The only person that can modify terms of Lindsay's probation, or terminate it early, is Judge Elden Fox.'
So, in a nutshell, they want her taken off her probation, so when and if she messes up again, she won't be as severely punished as she would have been while being on probation.
Doesn't that just make perfect sense?! Don't you think she will totally learn her lesson this way?! And isn't nice to see how much faith they have in Lindsay to stay sober and civil?!
